About The Recovery Lab

Restoring Wellness. Reclaiming Life. Reimagining Care.

The Recovery Lab was founded on a simple but often overlooked truth: health is never just physical.

Chronic illness, persistent pain, autoimmune conditions, stress-related disorders, and medically complex diagnoses affect far more than the body. They impact identity, relationships, meaning, energy, and hope. Too often, individuals navigating these challenges are treated in fragments. Symptoms are managed, but the whole person is not seen.

The Recovery Lab was created to change that.

We provide evidence-based psychological services grounded in health psychology and behavioral medicine. Our work centers on the intricate connection between mind and body, addressing how stress physiology, coping patterns, medical trauma, culture, and lived experience shape health outcomes.

Our approach is biopsychosocial and integrative. That means we consider emotional, cognitive, behavioral, relational, and physiological factors together. Treatment is collaborative, clinically rigorous, and tailored to your lived reality.

At The Recovery Lab, therapy is not just about reducing distress. It is about restoring function, rebuilding agency, strengthening resilience, and helping you reestablish a meaningful life in the midst of health-related challenges.

We believe care should be:

• Science-informed
• Culturally responsive
• Clinically precise
• Rooted in therapeutic partnership
• Designed for sustainable wellness

This is whole-person healing.

Meet the Founder

 Hi, I'm Dr. Clifford

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in health psychology, chronic pain, stress-related conditions, and the emotional impact of chronic illness.

For more than a decade, I have worked at the intersection of medicine and psychology, helping individuals navigate complex diagnoses, persistent pain, autoimmune disorders, and the invisible weight that health conditions often carry. My clinical training is grounded in empirically supported interventions, psychophysiological approaches, and mind-body integration.

But my work has always extended beyond symptom management.

I founded The Recovery Lab because I saw a gap. Patients were receiving medical treatment, yet many were left without structured psychological care that addressed the full human experience of illness. I wanted to create a space where science, compassion, culture, and identity converge; A space where individuals feel both clinically supported and personally understood.

My approach integrates:

• Health psychology and behavioral medicine
• Evidence-based cognitive and behavioral interventions
• Stress physiology and regulation skills
• Biofeedback-informed strategies when indicated
• Cultural humility and contextual awareness

I work collaboratively with each client to build clarity, skill, and confidence in navigating their health journey. The goal is not perfection. It is agency. It is stability. It is sustainable resilience.

The Recovery Lab is more than a practice. It is a clinical home for those who have felt overlooked, misunderstood, or fragmented in traditional systems of care.

Here, we slow down.
We assess thoughtfully.
We intervene intentionally.
And we build forward with purpose.
